Heath providers work with debt collectors and/or law offices to attempt to collect medical bill debt.
If your medical bill has been sent to a collection agency and you aren’t sure if your credit score has or will be affected, you can ask the collection agency the following question: “Will any or part of this balance be reported to any of the credit bureaus at any time?”
If you are unsure about what debt collector is handling your outstanding balance due, you should contact the health care provider where you were seen and ask where the debt was sent for collection.
